Relationship counselling is for adults experiencing difficulties in their relationships.
Whether you are a couple or an individual, married or in a partnership, separated, divorced or divorcing, straight or gay. Whatever your age, race or social background; people come to Relate to resolve problems such as affairs, communication issues, difficult sex lives, step family relationships and how to balancing work and home life.
People also talk to us about the effect on their couple and family relationships when children leave home or coping in a relationship when there is poor mental health, such as depression or where there are money worries.
We can help you talk openly and work out how to resolve what is worrying you in your relationship and help you make a decision about what to do. Your first consultation will be for up to an hour to give you an opportunity to talk to a counsellor about your difficulty and work out with your counsellor how regular Relate counselling can help.
Regular Relationship counselling appointments are at the same time of the same day and last for up to an hour.
Sex therapy can help you put the sparkle back in to your love life. All couples go through periods where they don’t have the time or energy for regular sex or experience difficulties when they try to have sex. Sometimes there are specific reasons for your difficulties.
Don’t be embarrassed, come and get help from a specialist. Your therapist will put you at your ease, help you talk about your sexual difficulties together and design a programme of treatment tailor made for you with exercises for you to do in the privacy of your own home.
Appointments are at the same time of the same day of each week and usually last for up to an hour. Over 90% of clients attending a Relate sexual therapy programme have found they are able to make improvements in their sexual life.
Relate children and young people’s counselling service is for any young person, up to 18 years who is having relationship problems at home or at school.
If you are feeling sad or upset, worried, confused or stuck, our counsellors are able to help you to talk about the things that are worrying you.
Children and young people tell us that seeing a Relate counsellor helps because they are independent from school or home life. Our counsellors help you to talk honestly and openly and can support you with problems like family breakdown; moving in with a second family, or bullying at school.
After counselling, young people tell us that coming to talk to their Relateen counsellor has helped them to feel happier.
Family counselling helps you to understand and cope better with the stresses and strains of family life. Families can be a source of support, encouragement and love, but sometimes relationships within families are put under strain and family members feel isolated or overlooked. Family counselling can help when siblings aren’t getting along, or parents and children are going through a divorce or separation.
Forming a new family is a challenge and it is at this point that many parents contact Relate for some support to help everyone settle.
Family counselling appointments are usually every other week at the same time of the same day of each week.
